Blueberry Mint Mojito
A mojito is an awesome cocktail to make at home, and this is our twist on the classic. It’s fresh, simple, and seriously minty. Here’s what you’ll need!
This cocktail has only 5 ingredients: white rum, fresh lime juice, mint, ice, and our blueberry mint kombucha! Equipment-wise, you’ll also need a glass for your drink, a small glass to measure ounces, and something to muddle the mint with. I used a jigger for measuring, but you can use a shot glass or a small jar just as easily. Muddling is even simpler, as you can use a wooden spoon, a pestle, or even the end of your reusable straw! I used our fermentation tamper (a sanded-down piece of dowel).
Muddling is the most important step. You want to really crush the leaves, until you can smell the mint oils being released into the glass. I used a variety called candy mint, which is fairly sweet and fragrant. The underside of the leaves are a lovely dark purple, which matched the blueberry kombucha perfectly!
Ingredients
2 ounces white rum
2 ounces fresh lime juice
12-odd fresh mint leaves
blueberry mint kombucha
Instructions
Add rum, lime juice, and mint leaves to your glass. Muddle the mint leaves well.
Optional: Strain the mint leaves out. Personally, I like to eat them, but I really, really like mint, so to each their own.
Add chipped ice to your glass, then top off with blueberry mint kombucha.
And that’s it! Straightforward, beautiful, and very refreshing.
If you’re a more advanced bartender, first of all, teach me your ways. Second of all, you likely have a cocktail shaker. Great! Shake the rum/lime/muddled mint over ice before adding the kombucha if that’s more to your taste. It’s a more traditional mojito preparation method.
If you don’t drink alcohol, I would suggest swapping the rum out for sparkling water. Drinking your creation on the back porch as the sun sets is also encouraged. 🌞🌿
